Where Have All the Heroes Gone?

I couldn't agree more with the author on this one. And it's not that one is "above it all" but, IMO, it's about living for things that really matter. I don't understand how a celebrities new jail sentence or divorce or car or house is going to affect my life in any significant way. It doesn't. I think we all need to step away from the world or unplug from it and spend some quiet time with God away from all electronic gadgets.

  1. The things that the author points out are all about distractions that pull us away from the issues that should really matter. We all have our own hang ups and as Christ followers we can fall back knowing that all this is temporal. The challenge is for us to pray for those who don't know and to continue to walk the path that is narrow. We have an eternal path and sometimes is does get difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We all struggle with some sort of expectations in life that aren't met and fall off when things don't seem to go our way. The celebrities that the author points out just have a more public arena to express these behaviors. It's a shame we don't have more positive examples that get seen in the public...I guess we own it to ourself and God to be the light.
